Tumblr offers both free and paid themes, which can be used to customise your blog and in this article, we're going to explain how you can change the theme on your Tumblr blog.

Step 1: Click on the profile icon at the top-right of the screen (to the left of the compose button). Then from the dropdown list, either select Edit Appearance to change the avatar of your primary blog and skip to Step 3 or click on the name of your secondary blog and continue to Step 2.

Step 2 (for secondary blogs): Click on the Edit Appearance option from the sidebar menu to the right of your posts.

Step 3: Then click on the Edit theme button beside Website Theme.

Step 4: On the blog customiser, click on the Browser themes option below the name of your current theme near the top of the sidebar options to the left.

Step 5: Then on the same sidebar, click on the All Themes option at the top. Different theme options like Premium, Free themes as well as single, double column, among other layout categories, will appear. Select the one that suits your needs.

For this article, we're going to select the Free Themes option from the list.

Step 6: You'll see a list of theme options on the left side. Selecting any theme will create a live preview of your site with that theme on the right. Choose the theme that fits your blog and then click on the Use button at the top of the sidebar to the left.

Step 7: On the next page, you can customise your Tumblr blog's theme further from the tools available under Theme Options on the sidebar to the left. Once you're done customising, click on the Save button at the top of the sidebar.
